What is Lecture Capture?
The College of Business has invested in a state-of-the-art Lecture Capture system. Lecture capture automates the recording of your voice, screen and document camera, and combines this with a camera feed of you in your class.
The lecture capture system is available in the following classrooms:

- Q014
- Q015
- Q005

If you are teaching in any of these classrooms and you would like to schedule lecture capture to record your classes, then you should fill out the following form:
What to expect
What to expect
Once you have filled out the form the classes will be scheduled automatically, and you will receive an email with confirmation of your booking. The LC system will automatically record your class, create a video (with transcription) and upload it to your personal channel on the media server. You will receive an additional email when this is complete, and you can then share the recording within your Brightspace module.
You are welcome to contact the ILTG team (iltg@ucd.ie) for additional assistance. While there is the ability to live stream (broadcast) your recording, where remote students can attend synchronously, capacity limits apply to this. Live streaming works best for special events, and should not be considered for hybrid teaching delivery.
Benefits of Lecture Capture
Benefits of Lecture Capture
Over the years students have responded very positively to having access to lecture recordings. Both our own, and research in higher education, shows that students benefit from being able to listen back to lectures more than once. Students like the ability to replay recordings at different speeds, search the transcript for key terms, and to optimise the different views available such as document camera or Powerpoint presentations. It also allows a way to enhance the learning experience for all students, including students where English is not their first language, or students with different accessibility requirements.
We encourage staff to record their lectures and provide these to students as an asynchronous learning resource. If you wish to create a truly hybrid class then please contact audrey.dempsey@ucd.ie to discuss further, as we would be happy to pilot this with you.
