Mahara is a fully featured web application to build your electronic portfolio.
[separator top=”20″ style=”none”]Students can create journals, upload files, embed social media resources from the web and collaborate with other users in groups.
PDP takes the skills of strategic management (situational analysis, goal setting, planning, implementation, review) and applies them to self, regularly and progressively over the course of the degree. The Personal Development Portfolio is an opportunity to record and reflect on the tangible skills, experiences and achievements students have developed over the duration of the BComm degree, within and outside the curriculum; to engage with the career and development experiences and insights of others; and to focus and inform further personal, educational and career development.[separator top=”40″ style=”none”]
During the PDP capstone module, students take part in career and personal development talks, workshops and learning materials, and are encouraged to develop and share additional resources in the class. PDP is a process, specific to the student, depending on investment and initiative – to collect – review – reflect – and act – on personal goals and career related capabilities and needs, drawing on resources and opportunities within and outside studies.
Broad categories include but are not limited to the following:
- Reflective learning: analysis and evidence of integrated academic development, transferable skills, stretch, feedback or insight, beyond individual subject matter
- Engagement and contribution: engagement with university and external communities, personal initiative, extra curricular development
- Career planning: self awareness, investigation and information gathering, reflection and goal setting
