HEAnet

Media Hosting Service
The HEAnet Media Hosting Service provides hosting, transcode and streaming of video content for HEAnet member institutions.
Users upload there original videos using an easy to use upload form. The videos are then available to be embedded in the user's websites or to be viewed by using a unique URL.

Who can use the service?

Any HEAnet member institutions can avail of the service. The service use the Edugate federation service for authenication. For a user to log into the service, their institution must be a member of the Edugate federation.

FileSender
FileSender is a web based application that allows authenticated users to securely and easily send arbitrarily large files to other users. Authentication of users is provided through SAML2, LDAP and RADIUS. Users without an account can be sent an upload voucher by an authenticated user. FileSender is developed to the requirements of the higher education and research community.

Desktop Video Conferencing
DVC - HEAnet's new Desktop Video Conferencing Service provides a telepresence quality video conferencing experience to desktops and hand-held devices using Vidyo client software.

An online social networking and micro- blogging service that enables its users to send and receive text-based messages (tweets) of up to 140 characters.

Hootsuite
HootSuite, a social media dashboard, allows users to manage multiple social network accounts and profiles from one location.

WordPress
Wordpress is free, web-based blogging software that comes in 2 flavours (.com and .org).
Wordpress.com is a free-hosted service and WordPress.org is an open source package that can be downloaded and used to build a website or blog but requires self-hosting.

An online service, owned by Google, that allows users to create personal or multi-user blogs.

LinkedIn
LinkedIn is the most popular business-oriented professional networking site.

Scoop.it
A social media publishing platform where users curate content on their favourite topics and share it as a visual magazine.

TweetDeck
A social media dashboard application for management of Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Delicious
Delicious is a popular social bookmarking site allowing users to save, organise, and discover interesting links on the web.

Ning
Ning makes it easy to launch your own social network in a matter of minutes.

Google+ Hangout
Would you like to see, hear, and share information to your online learners. With Google+ Hangouts you can have a video group chat for up to 10 people for free! It is a powerful tool much better than a Web Chat.

Blogger
Blogger is Google’s free tool for creating blogs. It can be used for a variety of educational reasons. For example form simply engaging learners to record journal entries, and assess acquired knowledge.

Google Calendar
You can organize your Online Syllabus, online synchronous and asynchronous events!

Google Docs
With Google Docs your group of learners can collaborate online with each other in real-time right inside a web browser window.

Google Earth
You can use Google Earth to engage your learners with interactive activities for subjects like history, environmental science, geography, etc

Google Maps
How about creating a list of your favorite point of interests at MyMap?

Google Reader
You can use Google Reader and Google Customer Search Engine with the same way. The difference is that instead of searching a list of valuable websites (GSE), with Google Reader you can read and share the content by subscribing to the websites' / blogs' RSS feeds.
